"Whence We Came"
Thanks to all of you who attended the 2014 Reunion for the Descendants of Mary Gray & George Welburn. Our informal Meet & Greet on Thursday at the Princess Royale extended into the late hours as we caught up with each other. The food at Friday night's Mardi Gras dinner buffet was fabulous and DJ Messy Marvin kept the family on the dance floor.
Saturday's Ancestry Tour led us through the countryside of Frankford. Our tour stops included the old family farm site that our 3rd-great-grandfather, George Welburn, purchased in 1865. Next we headed to the historic Union Wesley U.M. Church, Wesley Campground, and Cemetery which was the original church home of the Welburns. The last stop on our tour was the historic Antioch A.M.E. Church, Frankford Campground, and Cemetery.
Antioch also hosted our family cookout and farewell brunch. Hats off to the culinary team and our deepest thanks go to Pastor Griffin, Antioch's Trustees and members for the use of the Campground, churchyard, and fellowship hall. Thanks to our cousins Ashley Purnell, The Tiller Sisters, and those in Antioch's Unity Choir who ministered through music during Sunday's worship service.
Congratulations to our prize winners Brenda, who traveled the farthest, and Nyesha, who was first to register for the reunion. Congratulations also go to our 50/50 Cash & Autographed Football Raffle winners, Shirley & Cassandra.
Now on to 2016!
